Jocelyn C Hach
Multi-instrumentalist Jocelyn C Hach blends the chamber ensemble instrumentation of viola, violin, and harp with minimal electronics and dark ambience, creating ethereal sonic meditations with dungeon synth and dream pop sensibilities. Hach’s haunting, androgynous vocals drift throughout the album, with classically inspired chamber compositions guiding the journey. On the album opener “Through the Spires”, Hach uses only viola, layering the instrument to conjure a spectral waltz. “Anthodite” begins with a pensive harp line, laying the groundwork for drones and faraway percussion to hover above an almost medieval sonic meditation. “Tikrit” goes full dream pop; Hach’s voice channels Julie Cruise, an unexpected burst of color that doesn’t disrupt the overarching dream state of the album.
